NHSSF Meetup on the Mall
2023 Innovative Housing Showcase
June-9-11 at The National Mall, Washington D.C.
Together, let's learn about cutting edge technologies that foster greater affordability
Media from the Meetup
NHSSF Staff, along with City of Miami and Miami-Dade County staff, attended the Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Innovative Housing Showcase in Washington, D.C. from June 9th through the 11th.
Recently, ICC released a video with highlights from the summit, which brought together hundreds of stakeholders from across the building industry to identify housing solutions through public policy and government actions. And the same week as the summit, the National Association of Home Builders approved a resolution supporting the adoption of coordinated off-site construction standards, including ICC/MBI’s 1200 and 1205 standards.
What is the NHSSF Showcase Meetup?
An informal gathering of South Floridians passionate about advancing and increasing affordable and resilient housing for working families. The DC Department of Housing and Urban Development Showcase is free and open to the public and no registration is required. However, we do ask that you RSVP TO US so that we know who is going and so that we can coordinate with everyone.z
As part of our 45th Anniversary celebration, we want to encourage a strong South Florida showing at the Showcase in our Nation’s capital. Secretary Fudge is expected to speak and we hope to meet with other decision makers informally (more to come on this).
South Florida has emerged as the least affordable metro area in the country. The Showcase will give us insight into new technologies, practices, and services that drive down the cost of production and delivery of housing.
NHSSF cannot underwrite your participation but we have found ways to keep it simple and less expensive. We arranged for a group rate at a local hotel: Motto, by Hilton - Washington, DC City Center. You MUST book by this Thursday, June 1st, to take advantage of group rates. There are a mix of rooms that include some with bunk beds which effectively cut the cost in half for those sharing a room.
The Innovative Housing Showcase weekend operating hours are 10am-6pm and weekday operating hours are 9am-6pm.

The Showcase will be open to the public and free of charge.
Who should attend?
The purpose of the Innovative Housing Showcase is to display new building technologies that can make housing more affordable and resilient. The Showcase is free and open to the public. In particular, homeowners, future homeowners, entrepreneurs, real estate professionals, contractors, lawmakers, civil servants, veterans, and military professionals are all encouraged to attend. There will be something of interest for everyone.
On May 16, 2023, HUD and the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) announced new details regarding the Innovative Housing Showcase, including the first round of exhibitors. The Showcase will be an open-to-the-public event on the National Mall to raise awareness of innovative and affordable housing designs and technologies that have the potential to increase housing supply, lower the cost of construction, increase energy efficiency and resilience, and reduce housing expenses for owners and renters.
Policymakers, housing industry representatives, media, and the general public are invited to attend. A detailed agenda and links to attend some portions virtually will be posted on hud.gov/Innovative_Housing
