Foreclosure Prevention
Since 2008, Neighborhood Housing Services of South Florida, a HUD approved counseling agency, has helped thousands of South Floridians avoid foreclosure.
Our foreclosure prevention counselors will assess your situation and provide recommendations for your next steps. NHSSF will serve as your advocate to help obtain the best solution available to you.
Through our workshops and one-on-one counseling our counselors will:
- Analyze your situation and educate you about the foreclosure process in South Florida
- Assist in compiling necessary documentation
- Help you develop a budget and spending plan that work
- Help you manage your debt
- Help you access refinance and modification opportunities
- Develop a customized action plan
Homeowners who are interested in learning more about the foreclosure counseling process or who need assistance should register for one of our Foreclosure Prevention Workshops. Attendance at the workshop is part of our program and will prepare you for one-on-one counseling with a foreclosure prevention counselor. The workshop covers such topics as tips for avoiding foreclosure, your options as a homeowner, communicating with lenders, and prioritizing debt.

Florida Hardest-Hit Fund – You may qualify for HHF Program Financial Assistance
The federal government has allocated funding to help pay the mortgages of qualified homeowners who are unemployed or underemployed through no fault of their own. Homeowners who qualify for financial assistance may receive up to 6 months of monthly mortgage payments and/or funds to pay past due mortgage payments to bring the mortgage current; these funds are paid directly to the loan servicer/lender.
To determine if YOU qualify, log onto the official HHF website at: www.FLHardestHitHelp.org. When filling out the online application please use agency code 82071 to be assigned to NHSSF.
